Every year, we start off with the biggest press conference right before CES exhibition: Samsung Press Conference. First of all, I was expecting a Galaxy S9 release as many rumors were saying, but there are no new phones unfortunately. That aside, let’s begin our quick review!
First half of the conference was a recap of 2017 and their brief explanation of future projectiles for 2018. Samsung promised by 2020, they will have their products all IoT compatible, meaning, all devices from Samsung will talk to each other for the best and optimum user experiences. It’s like Apple’s continuity, but with almost all electronic devices you can think of, such as televisions, refrigerators, washers, dryers, and more.
Samsung released new product in their laptop lineup: Notebook 9 Pen. It’s a lightweight, all in one design that can be converted in to a tablet form. They also have touch sensitive pen for your realistic drawing and writing experience. More information about this laptop will be further reviewed during the actual exhibition days.
Samsung is one of the few companies in the United States who experienced the power of 5G network. It already has been extensively tested in South Korea. They’ve been also testing in Sacramento and they are brining it to major cities in the States later this year in partnership with Verizon.
With the power of 5G, all of the devices can talk to each other, receiving and transferring data a lot faster. Don’t forget, 3G and LTE (4G) connected us to the internet, 5G enables fiber on your phones and mobile devices.
The really cool thing I witnessed during this conference is Samsung Flip. It’s a platform where all of the devices can communicate with each other to do projects and office work together with your fellow colleague.
All in all, it was a great conference. I personally think Samsung is taking Apple’s idea of continuity to greater extent. It was very intriguing that their innovative thoughts are majorly consumer oriented products.
